You can use this page to choose MDriven training videos and their supporting material based on whether you are starting out, learning the declarative ViewModel, or following the Bootcamp.

Choose training material

If you want to ... Start here What you will find
Get a short introduction to a specific MDriven function MDriven Shorts Short videos intended to give a fast overview of particular MDriven functions, including getting started with modeling, development, and navigation in MDriven.
Follow an overview series for MDriven Designer MDriven Designer Overview Series The overview-series entry point for learning MDriven Designer.
Learn by building an application step by step Bootcamp Chapter 13 and the other Bootcamp chapters Detailed exercises that you perform in MDriven Designer. For example, Chapter 13 creates a ViewModel, adds a grid, and builds a data-dependent HTML or SVG graphic.
Understand the declarative ViewModel approach The declarative ViewModel Training material focused on the declarative ViewModel.
Follow a chapter that refers to screenshots Chapter 1 Images or Chapter 3 Images The image companions for the corresponding training chapters. Open an image to view it at full size while you perform the chapter steps.

Recommended learning paths

New to MDriven

  1. Watch MDriven Shorts to become familiar with the MDriven workflow and terminology.
  2. Continue with the MDriven Designer Overview Series to orient yourself in MDriven Designer.
  3. Work through the Bootcamp in chapter order. Use the matching image pages when a chapter points to a screenshot.

Learning by building

  1. Open the relevant Bootcamp chapter.
  2. Perform each numbered step in MDriven Designer.
  3. Save and test when the chapter tells you to do so.
  4. If a visual step is unclear, open its companion image page. For example, use Chapter 1 Images when following Chapter 1.

Chapter 13 is an example of this approach: you create a CarsAndBrands ViewModel for the Car class, expose it with a global action, add a grid, and then add a generic column that renders HTML based on data.

Focusing on ViewModels

Start with The declarative ViewModel when your goal is to understand how a ViewModel defines what the application shows and how users reach it. Then use a Bootcamp exercise such as Chapter 13 to apply the concept in MDriven Designer.

Use supporting images

Training image pages are companions to their corresponding chapters, not standalone lessons. When a chapter step includes an image reference:

  1. Open the matching image page, such as Chapter 3 Images.
  2. Find the image for the step number in the chapter.
  3. Select the image to inspect it in full size.
  4. Return to the chapter and reproduce the shown configuration in MDriven Designer.

Continue your training

Use Taking It Further Still when you are ready to move beyond the introductory training. Keep the training page open while you work: the video and written steps are most useful when you perform the same actions in your own model.
